FAYETTEVILLE – The 14th-ranked Arkansas men’s golf team will close the fall portion of the 2018-19 schedule versus another top-notch field at the Royal Oaks Invitational Oct. 22-23. The event, originally set to be played in Dallas’ Royal Oaks Country Club, has been moved to Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas, due to heavy rain in the area.

Arkansas is one of seven programs in the most recent Bushnell Golfweek Coaches poll competing in the 14-team event. Top-ranked Oklahoma State headlines the field, followed by #6 Pepperdine, #7 SMU, #14 Arkansas, #26 and host Baylor, #33 Iowa and #40 North Carolina. Also in the field are Charlotte, Houston, Kent State, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina State and UTSA.

“I hope to carry the momentum from last week into this week,” said head coach Brad McMakin. “All five starters have played well so far and been very consistent. We should be in position to contend again this week. Unfortunately, we have never played at Maridoe but I’ve nothing but great things about it. It is a championship-caliber course like the Blessings. It should be a good test and we are excited to play there.”

Arkansas is coming off a runner-up finish at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. The Razorbacks were led by freshman Julian Perico, who won in record-setting fashion. Arkansas battled #3 and host Alabama down the stretch but the Crimson Tide managed a one-stroke victory. All five Razorbacks finished among the top 18.
