15th-ranked Hogs make history over No. 16 Florida 4-0

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior Aurelija Miseviciute proved her dominance against another Southeastern Conference opponent as the 15th-ranked University of Arkansas Razorback women’s tennis team claimed the program’s first ever win over No. 16 Florida on Sunday, 4-0, in the Dills Indoor Tennis Center. “It’s very special for our team to get this win, especially in front of the home crowd and in our home facility,” said Miseviciute. “It crossed my mind during singles and I got a little nervous because I knew how bad our team came out here wanting this win, and I’m glad we achieved that.”Fifth-ranked Miseviciute dropped a Top 10 opponent in No. 8 Marrit Boonstra, 6-2, 6-4, to push the Hogs record to 10-6, and 5-3 in SEC play. The win continues Miseviciute’s perfect mark at 8-0 in SEC play.“I don’t really think about the individual numbers that much, because right now it’s more important to get team wins and vault ourselves in the standings,” Miseviciute said. “The record won’t cross my mind until the individual tournament comes around in May.”The Razorbacks swayed the momentum into their favor early in the match after claiming the doubles point. The freshman duo of Kate Lukomskaya and Emily Carbone defeated Barbara Pinterova and Brooke Allen, 8-3. The seniority in No. 62 Miseviciute and Ela Kaluder clinched the doubles point, 8-6, over Boonstra and Jo Mather. The freshmen carried over their stellar play from doubles into the singles portion of the match.Carbone wasted no time against Jessica Alexander, 6-3, 6-0, to give the Hogs a two-point cushion. Her teammate, Lukomskaya, followed that up with a straight-set victory over Allen , 6-1, 6-4, placing Arkansas one-point away from making program history against the Gators (10-8, 4-4).After Miseviciute clinched the win, all other matches were postponed. The Razorbacks will be back in action on April 10th when they head to Mississippi for a pair of matches against Mississippi State and Ole Miss.#15 Arkansas- 4#16 Florida- 0Singles1. #5 Aurelija Miseviciute (Ark) def. #8 Marrit Boonstra (UF), 6-2, 6-4.2. #71 Anouk Tigu (Ark) led.
