2009 Arkansas-Texas Football Game Moved to Accommodate Texas A&M Series

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas has postponed its 2009 game against the University of Texas to accommodate its new long-term non-conference series with Texas A&M University, it was announced by Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long on Friday.

Arkansas will travel to Austin, Texas, on Sept. 13, 2008, in the first game of the series, but will play the second game in the non-conference series at a date to be determined in 2015. Long said that the University of Arkansas would explore resuming the series earlier if other scheduling opportunities arise prior to 2015.

“Given the tremendous opportunity to begin an annual series with Texas A&M in the new Dallas Cowboys’ Stadium, necessitated making some alterations to our future non-conference football schedules,” Long said. “With the addition of Texas A&M, we had 13 games scheduled for the 2009 season and were required to move one non-conference game on our schedule. While it is unfortunate that we will have to postpone the return game in the Texas series, we felt that it was important to seize the window of opportunity to secure a long-term series with Texas A&M. The series with Texas A&M will provide increased exposure for the University of Arkansas and the entire Razorback Athletic program.”
