2010 football schedule announced

Seven games in the state of Arkansas including Southeastern Conference showdowns and continuing the Southwest Classic tradition in Arlington against Texas A&M highlight Arkansas’ 2010 football schedule, which was announced on Saturday.

"Our 2010 schedule promises to provide another exciting year of college football," Vice Chancellor and Athletic Director Jeff Long said. "From the season opener in Fayetteville to the regular season finale in Little Rock, Razorback fans will have plenty of chances to cheer on Coach Bobby Petrino and our football team within the state. We also are excited to see the Razorback Nation travel to Arlington to support our team as they take on Texas A&M in the Southwest Classic at Dallas Cowboys’ Stadium. So even as we near the end of the 2009 season, we are already gearing up for a great 2010 campaign."

The schedule includes seven games inside the state of Arkansas beginning with the Sept. 4 season-opener against Tennessee Tech in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks will play the next Saturday (Sept. 11) in Little Rock against Louisiana-Monroe. The other game in Little Rock will be the regular season finale against LSU on Nov. 27. The Fayetteville schedule also includes meetings with Alabama on Sept. 25, Ole Miss on Oct. 23, Vanderbilt on Oct. 30 and UTEP on Nov. 13.

Arkansas continues its rivalry with former SWC foe Texas A&M on Oct. 9 when the two meet in the Southwest Classic in Dallas Cowboys’ Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

After opening with games against Tennessee Tech and Louisiana-Monroe in Arkansas, the Razorbacks travel to Athens, Ga., to take on Georgia on Sept. 18. Arkansas also goes on the road for games at Auburn (Oct. 16), South Carolina (Nov. 6) and Mississippi State (Nov. 20).
