36 named to Chancellor's List

FAYETTEVILLE – Thirty-six Razorback student-athletes earned recognition on the Fall 2009 University of Arkansas Chancellor’s List, the Razorback Athletic Department announced today.

Representing most of the 19 Razorback sports, the 36 student-athletes included All-Americans and world-class performers. Of the three dozen honored, ten were in their first semester of college.

Four members of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl-bound Razorback football team were among those named: Dylan Breeding, a freshman punter from Helena, Ala., David Hurd, a freshman offensive lineman from West Monroe, La.; Bobby Petrino Jr, a freshman wide receiver from Fayetteville; and Austin Tate, a freshman tight end from Harrison.

The Razorback swimming and diving squad led the selections with seven athletes. Seniors backstroke athlete Lynette Ng of Singapore and breast stroke athlete Leah Pierce of Columbia, Mo., were joined by juniors Gina Bargiachi of Memphis and Erin Neumann of Chesterfield, Mo.; sophomores Sarah Howard of Winter Haven, Fla., Lisa Lunkenheimer of Derby, Kansas; and freshman Kelsea Vance of Greenville, Texas.

Softball and gymnastics each had five selections on the Chancellor’s List. Fielders Kelsey Allison, Kailey Anders and Chelsea Tidwell were joined by pitchers Kim Jones and Hope McLemore for the softball team.

Gymnastics opens its 2010 season in just over a week withStacy Bartlett, a junior from Tualtin, Ore., and senior All-American Sarah Nagashima from Seattle joined by fellow senior Amy DeFilippo from Torrance, N.J., freshman Kelci Lewis from Collinsville, Okla., and redshirt freshman Genny Salvatore from Lawrence, Kan.

The women’s track team placed three on the Fall 2009 list led by multiple time All-American senior Katie Stripling, a senior vaulter from Jonesboro. Fellow vaulter, junior Tara Diebold from Branson, Mo., and Keri Wood, a freshman middle distance runner from College Station, Texas, were the other women’s track selections.

A pair of Razorback men’s golfers — Tobas Pettersson, sophomore from Kalmar, Sweden; and Landon Tujague, a freshman from Dallas, Texas – and a pair of Razorback women’s golfers — Corinna Rees, a junior from Pebble Beach, Calif., and Victoria Vela, a freshman from Mansfield, Texas, were Chancellor’s List.

Also putting two athletes each on the fall list were women’s tennis with Valentia Starkova, freshman from Almaty, Kazakhstan; and Anouk Tigu, a junior from Moordrecht, Holland; and men’s track and field with Lane Boyer, a distance junior from Fredonia, Kansas; and javelin thrower Luke Laird, a junior from Gardner, Kansas.

Four other athletes rounded out the 2009 Fall Chancellor’s List Razorbacks: Mackenzie Rhea, a sophomore volleyball defensive specialist from Webb City, Mo.; Kat Moffett, a senior soccer forward from McKinney, Texas; Hall Fess, a redshirt freshman tennis player from Little Rock; and Garrett Methvin, a freshman baseball pitcher from Longview, Texas.
