4 Standouts From Week 1 Of The NFL Preseason

FAYETTEVILLE – Of the 16 scheduled games during Week 1 of the NFL preseason, 14 featured the likes of former Arkansas Razorbacks.

Here are four ProHog standouts during the first week of the preseason:

BRANDON ALLEN
Allen took all of the Jaguars second-half snaps last Thursday in their 31-24 win over the New England Patriots. Allen was impressive, going 5-for-7 for 85 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown strike to Dede Westbrook late in the third quarter to go up two scores on the Pats.

MITCHELL LOEWEN
After having to sit out the 2016 season due to a foot injury,  Loewen took advantage of his limited time in his playing debut. Loewen recorded two tackles, one tackle for loss, three quarterback hurries and 1.5 sacks for 13.5 yards.

JONATHAN WILLIAMS
Williams made a strong case as the No. 2 back behind LeSean McCoy on Thursday. As impressive as he has been in training camp this season, Williams was just as good in his first preseason start of 2017. With the Bills resting McCoy, Williams led all running backs with a game-high 39 yards rushing on four carries for a 9.8 yard per rush average. The second-year back also hauled in one reception for seven yards in Buffalo’s 17-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Click here to read how impressed head coach Sean McDermott was with Williams.

ALEX COLLINS
The second-year back is trying to take advantage of limited touches in a loaded Seahawks’ backfield. Despite carrying the ball for only nine yards on six rushes, Collins did find the end zone on a one-yard rush and hauled in two receptions for 17 yards.
