4x1 Long Jumpers Find Success at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. Arkansas Razorback track and field qualified its 4×100-meter relay for Saturday’s finals and had three long jumpers place in the championship flight on Friday at Penn Relays.

Arkansas’ 4×100-meter relay (Cedric Zellner, Alain Bailey, Mychael Stewart and J-Mee Samuels) finished first in their heat and 14th overall with a prelim time of 40.70. They qualified for Saturday’s college final in the event.

Bailey, Stewart, competing in three events on Friday, and Daniel Quinn competed in the championship long jump and earned third-, fifth- and seventh-place finishes, respectively. Bailey’s best jump of the day measured in at 25-0 to lead the Hogs in the event. Stewart marked a jump of 24-6.25. Quinn’s best jump was 24-1.75. All three marks are regional qualifiers but not season improvements.

Duncan Phillips (1,200 meters; 2:59.7), Mychael Stewart (400 meters; 48.6), Alex McClary (800 meters; 1:50.2) and Micky Cobrin (1,600 meters; 4:08.2) competed in the distance medley relay for Arkansas. They combined for a clocking of 9:46.71 and a 10th-place finish.

Also competing on Friday were Kent Austell in the 400-meter hurdles (34th; 53.94) and Brent Rosson in the high jump (seventh; 6-6.75).

The Razorbacks are scheduled to compete in the 4xMile, the 4×800-meter relay, the final of the 4×100-meter relay, the triple jump and the javelin.
