PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Arkansas Razorback 4×400-meter relay picked up a sixth-place finish for No. 18 women’s track and field on Saturday at the Penn Relays, in Philadelphia, Pa.
"We had a great weekend in the vault," head coach Lance Harter said. "Day in and day out, the crew always comes to compete. We had some ups and downs with some people but that’s the grind of the season. It’s time to start tuning up for the SEC Championships."
In the championship 4×400-meter relay, junior Shelise Williams, freshman Regina George, junior Edina Brooks and sophomore Whitney Jones combined for a time of 3:35.77 and a sixth-place finish.
At Friday’s Missouri Southern Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational, freshman Gwendolyn Flowers won the 100 meters with a time of 11.94 (3.1w). She clocked a prelim time of 11.89 (3.4w). Freshman Rachel Werner finished fourth in the prelims (12.17) and the finals (12.28).
Freshman Martine Borge was second in the 400 meters in 59.15. Freshman Makeba Alcide finished third in the prelims and the finals of the 100-meter hurdles. She clocked times of 14.75 (4.9w) and 14.68 (2.4w), respectively. She was also fourth in the high jump (5-3.25),
The Razorbacks will compete next when they host the Arkansas Twilight, Fri., April 30.
