4x800 second at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas – Arkansas’ first of seven scheduled relay events took place Thursday night at the 82nd annual Texas Relays, in Austin, Texas. The Razorbacks took silver in the 4×800-meter relay.

The quartet of senior Alex McClary (1:51.56), senior Andy McClary (1:51.73), junior Dorian Ulrey (1:50.73) and sophomore Chris Bilbrew (1:51.48) combined for a time of 7:25.83. The Texas Longhorns won the event with two-time NCAA 800-meter champion Jacob Hernandez anchoring to a time of 7:22.36.

Freshman Andrew Pennington made his outdoor debut Thursday night. Competing in the 400-meter hurdles for the first time in his career, he finished 26th overall with a time of 54.49.

Sophomore Spencer McCorkel competed in the "B" flight of the pole vault to open his outdoor season. He finished tied for eighth with a clearance of 16-0.75. He made three solid attempts at 16-6.75 under windy conditions.

In Wednesday night’s 800-meter run, freshman Jake Stephens clocked a time of 1:56.38 in outdoor season debut. He finished 14th overall.
