65 Student-Athletes Graduate This Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Athletics Department congratulates the 65 current and former student-athletes scheduled to graduate in the spring/summer semesters, it announced today.

Former men’s basketball players Ronnie Brewer and Lee Mayberry along with WNBA draft pick and former women’s basketball player C’iera Ricketts are among the graduates this year.

“Our mission at the University of Arkansas is to develop student-athletes to their fullest potential through athletics and our 65 spring and summer semester graduates are shining examples of what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. “We are so proud of their successes on the field and in the classroom on their path to graduation. We appreciate their many contributions to our program and our university and wish all of them continued success in their futures endeavors.”

Former Razorback coach and athletic director Frank Broyles will be presented an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree as part of the University-wide commencement ceremony. Broyles coached Arkansas Razorback football for 19 seasons and served as Razorback athletic director for another 31 years.

This year, the University has expanded its graduation ceremonies to allow more friends and family to be able to attend the event. The College of Education and Health Professions will take part in commencement ceremonies Friday, May 8, at 3 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena.

The University-wide commencement ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, in Bud Walton follow by 1 p.m. ceremonies for the Sam M. Walton College of Business in Barnhill Arena, the J. William Fulbright College of Arts & Sciences in Bud Walton Arena and the Fay Jones School of Architecture in the Verizon Ballroom, in the Student Union.

Activities continue at 5 pm. with the College of Engineering in Barnhill Arena and the Dale Bumpers College of Agriculture, Food and Life Sciences in Bud Walton Arena.

Seventeen Razorback student-athletes are scheduled to graduate from the College of Education and Health Professions on Friday night. They include five soccer players, two student-athletes from each baseball, football, tennis, swimming and diving and track and field and one each from softball and women’s basketball.

Thirty student-athletes from the William Fulbright College of Arts & Sciences including nine football players, six members of women’s cross country/track and field and four from men’s cross country/track and field will be included in the Saturday ceremonies.

Razorbacks Athletics has 11 student-athletes graduating from the Sam M. Walton College of Business including three baseball players and three members of the women’s cross country/track and field team and four student-athletes from the Dale Bumpers College of Agriculture, Food and Life Sciences in the late afternoon ceremony. Men’s tennis player Manfred Jeske represents Razorbacks student-athletes when he graduates with a chemical engineering degree from the College of Engineering at 5 p.m. Saturday.
