The Opponent
The Lions return three players who were significant starters on last year’s 7-22 team. Southeastern will look to Nanna Poll, Erica Hernanadez and Peaches Anderson to lead their team along with a couple of transfers in Bre Warren and KaeLynn Boyd. This is the second meeting between these programs and Arkansas won the contest, 88-38, in 2013.

What Coach Dykes Said
We are ready to play a game. We lack some game experience with eight newcomers and we are a work in progress. I’m anxious to go up against another team and hopefully get a win and see where we are. We saw that our defense is not where we want it to be after the exhibition game. We have to be really, really solid in the halfcourt defense and we are not there yet. Our schedule gets better and better with each game and we have to match that improvement.

Arkansas in Home Openers
Arkansas is 19-0 in home openers and 1-0 under Coach Jimmy Dykes. Four returners will be heavily relied upon to lead the team. Senior Melissa Wolff and juniors Jessica Jackson, Kelsey Brooks and Khadijah West will see a lot of minutes but freshman Jordan Danberry and junior college transfer Alecia Cooley could also be regular season starters.

About the Schedule
Arkansas may well have one of the toughest schedules in college women’s basketball. The Razorbacks face nine teams who are ranked or getting votes in the preseason Associated Press poll and eight from the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll. The Razorbacks open SEC play facing four ranked conference opponents all of whom advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.
