FAYETTEVILLE – Four T-38 jets from the 80th Flying Training Wing at Sheppard Air Force Base will perform a flyover following the National Anthem at this weekend’s South Carolina-Arkansas matchup.  Kick off is schedule for 11:21 am.

The crew members participating Saturday morning include Capt. Curtis Weddle, Magnolia, Texas; Capt. Charles Hebert, Austin, Texas; Capt. Miles Newsome, Dallas, Texas; Capt. Sean Jones, Fayetteville; Capt. Dan Summers, Kansas City, Mo.; Lt. Mark Schnell, Kimball, Neb.; Lt. Matt Streeton, West Salem, Wisc.

The T-38 was the world’s first supersonic trainer and is still used today as the primary supersonic trainer for the Euro-Nato Joint Jet Pilot Training program at Sheppard AFB.  Its lightweight frame fits a two person crew, and with an outstanding thrust/weight ratio of 0.65 and a maximum speed of Mach 1.3, the T-38 was the aircraft of choice for the Air Force’s Thunderbirds aerobatic display team from 1974-1983.
