2013 || INDOOR: All-America Second Team…ran the 400-meter leg of ninth-place distance-medley relay at the NCAA Championships…finished in fifth place at 400 meters at the SEC Championships…ran a personal-best time of 46.77 during the prelims to advance to the conference finals…ran lead leg of 4x400-meter relay that posted a runner-up time of 3:06.26 at the Razorback Team Invitational. OUTDOOR: Did not compete (redshirt).

2012 || INDOOR: Southard earned first-team All-America accolades as a member of the distance-medley relay that finished in fifth place at the NCAA Championships. Running the 400-meter leg of the DMR, he helped the team to a season-best time of 9:31.48 at the Alex Wilson Invitational, an effort that secured a spot at the national meet. Southard was an SEC champion with the distance-medley relay. He also competed at 400 meters during the conference meet. He was also part of a DMR victory at the Razorback Invitational. He ran a season-best time of 47.64 at 400 meters at the Tyson Invitational. OUTDOOR: Running in the preliminary round with the 4x400-meter relay at the NCAA Championships, Southard secured his second All-America selection of the year when the 4x400m finished sixth in the event final. He was 400-meter qualifier for the NCAA West Preliminary. Southard helped the 4x400-meter relay to a fourth-place finish at the SEC Championships. During the year, he was also part of 4x400m wins at the Arkansas Spring Invitational and John McDonnell Invitational. Individually, Southard set a personal-best time of 52.85 in the 400-meter hurdles at the John McDonnell Invitational.

2011 || INDOOR: Southard opened the season at the Arkansas Invitational with a third-place finish in the 400 meters (48.92) and second-place showing with the 4x400-meter relay (3:14.30). He resumed his relay duties to help a 4x400 team to a 10th-place effort and the distance-medley foursome to a fourth-place finish at the Razorback Invitational. At the SEC Championships, he clocked a personal-best 47.43 at 400 meters and finished just two spots away from qualifying for the event final. Running the second leg, Southard earned his first career All-America honor with an 11th-place effort with the DMR (9:52.48) at the NCAA Championships.  OUTDOOR: At the Texas Triangular, Southard finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.19 and returned to the track with a runner-up showing with the 4x400-meter relay (3:11.46). He finished fourth over the 400-meter hurdles at the Razorback Spring Invitational with a time of 53.82. Southard ran the 400-meter leg of Arkansas' victorious distance-medley relay at Texas Relays. The winning foursome clocked in at 9:46.46. At the John McDonnell Invitational, he posted a personal-best performance of 53.27-nearly half a second faster than his previous best-and finished third in the 400-meter hurdles. Southard was the lead leg of a sixth-place finish (3:06.29) by the 4x400-meter team at Penn Relays. In his final race prior to the championship season, he raced to a personal-best effort in the 400 meters with a time of 46.67, good for second place at the Arkansas Twilight. He earned fifth-place points for Arkansas in the 4x400-meter relay at the SEC Championships. Southard qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary in the 400 meters and with the 4x400-meter relay. At the NCAA Championships, he ran the third leg of the 4x400 relay that placed fifth in a season-best time of 3:03.59. The finish earned him First-Team All-America accolades.

2010 || INDOOR: Southard redshirted during the indoor season. OUTDOOR: He made his Razorback debut at Texas Relays in the 400-meter hurdles and as the second leg of a 4x400 relay. At the Arkansas-Texas dual meet, he navigated the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 55.08, good for a fifth-place result. In a personal-best clocking of 53.75, he finished eighth in the low hurdles at the Arkansas Twilight. At the SEC Championships, he finished 13th in the preliminary rounds of the 400-meter hurdles. He closed out his season with a 56.07 in the prelims of the USA Junior Championships.

AT THE WOODLANDS HS: While competing for The Woodlands, Southard was a member of two Nike Team Nationals championship teams and ran a leg on the 2009 Nike Outdoor Nationals winning distance medley relay. He was also a 2009 Texas Relays Champion as a member of the distance medley relay. He has personal bests of 48.89 in the 400 meters and 40.2 in the 300-meter hurdles. He was high school teammates with current Razorbacks Drew Butler.

PERSONAL: Born July 3, 1991, he is the son of Glenn Southard and Gretchen Southard. He is enrolled in the Sam M. Walton College of Business and is majoring in marketing.
