FAYETTEVILLE - In the series' third year, the University of Arkansas men's track and field team will host the University of Texas in an indoor dual meet Friday evening at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville. The meet begins off-site with the weight throw at Walker Pavilion at 4 p.m. (CT). Competition gets underway at the Tyson Center at 6 p.m. with the shot put. Running events-all finals-begin at 7 p.m.

The Razorbacks have won both previous dual indoor meets with Texas. Last season, Arkansas secured the win, 97-72, with first-place efforts in 12 of the 16 events. The Razorbacks finished 1-2 in four of the events. The Arkansas-Texas Dual series began in 2010.

Friday's meet will be scored on a 5-3-2-1 scale with the first-place individual receiving five points and so on. Only two competitors per team will score in each event with the top two finishers for both receiving the points. In the relay events, only one relay foursome per team will score.

Arkansas enters the meet has the No. 2 team in the country with Tuesday's release of the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) preseason rankings. Arkansas is part of a three-team Southeastern Conference jam atop the preseason poll with Florida and LSU, respectively. The Longhorns begin the season as the 10th-ranked team in the country.

The Razorbacks wrapped the season-opening Arkansas Invitational last weekend with a victory in the 4x400-meter relay, one of five event wins for the team. Including the relay result, the team also picked up first-place efforts from Travis Southard in the 400 meters, Omar Abdi in the 600 meters, Caleb Cross in the 60-meter hurdles and Justin Holmes in the weight throw.

Following its dual meet Friday, Arkansas is scheduled to return to action Jan. 27-28 with the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville. For more information regarding Razorback track and field or University of Arkansas athletics, please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
