AS A FRESHMAN (2012-13): Surin finished her first spring dual season at 7-14, closing out the season with three consecutive victories. Her best victory of the season came at the SEC Tournament against Auburn, where she rallied back after dropping the first set 6-0, and won in three sets against Jen Pfiefler. In doubles Surin recorded an 8-3 record when playing with fellow freshman Ana Lorena Belmar Hernandez. The duo was 6-1 at No. 3 doubles and won their last seven doubles matches. Surin was also 3-5 in doubles with Sarah McLean, with an overall doubles record of 12-10. Surin finished the fall with a 5-4 record, competing including two singles wins at the CCLR Invitational and at the ITA Central Regionals. She competed at the US Open Juniors Qualifying, falling in the first round against Tornado Ali Black. She was the first current Razorback to compete at the US Open Juniors under head coach Michael Hegarty, and was competing at the US Open for the second straight year.

BEFORE ARKANSAS: Multiple time national junior Champion in Canada. Won the U-16 division in 2010 in both singles and doubles, and won the U-18 division in 2010 in doubles and was the runner-up in singles. She was ranked as high as No. 159 in the ITF junior world rankings. 

PERSONAL: Parents are Bruny Surin and Bianelle Legros. Father won an Olympic gold medal in 1996 as part of Canada’s 4 X 100 meter relay, and represented Canada in four Olympic games. Mother is the Manager of Athlete Programs for the Canadian Olympic Committee.
