FAYETTEVILLE- The University of Arkansas football team continued preseason practice on Monday evening on the UA intramural fields. The practice marked the first team practice in full pads for the Razorbacks during 2012 fall camp.
Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Paul Petrino met with the media after practice and said he was pleased with the team's performance. He touched on the experience and knowledge the running backs bring to the team and how crucial their role is.
“I think they are battling,” Coach Petrino said. “I think it’s an everyday let’s go out there and get better. Definitely those are three of our guys with all kinds of experience and they’ve got to be leaders and they’ve got to go make plays for us. There’s no question.”
Coach Petrino also touched on the versatility of several of the team’s offensive linemen.
“A lot of those guys Coach (Chris) Klenakis trains at both guard and center, that way it gives us some more depth at both positions,” CoachPetrino said.
The Razorbacks continue practice Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the intramural fields. All practices held outside through Aug. 18 will be open to the public, but practices moved inside Walker Pavilion will be closed due to space limitations. The team is scheduled to practice at the intramural fields through Aug. 16.
Arkansas opens its 2012 season Sept. 1 inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville against Jacksonville State. The game begins at 6 p.m. and will be shown on a pay-per-view basis with details to be announced. Tickets for four Fayetteville games are still on sale. Tickets for the non-conference games against Jacksonville State, Rutgers and Tulsa are $45, while tickets for the conference matchup against Kentucky are $55. Single-game tickets may be purchased online at ArkansasRazorbacks.com, in person at the Razorback Ticket Center or by phone at 800-982-HOGS. Fans ordering tickets online have the option to print the tickets from home utilizing UA’s new eTicket system.
Little Rock season ticket packages, featuring games against ULM on Sept. 8 and Ole Miss on Oct. 27, are still available for $120. The Razorbacks and Rebels are set to square off inside War Memorial Stadium for the 16th time in series history, including the first meeting in 1913, and the first time since 1992. Tickets purchased for Little Rock contests are not available with a print-at-home option.
