FAYETTEVILLE – The 10th-ranked University of Arkansas football team continued preseason practice on Friday afternoon at the UA intramural fields.
Assistant head coach and linebackers coach Taver Johnson
talked to the media after practice and discussed the importance of tomorrow’s scrimmage.
“Tomorrow is going to be a big, big test for us because during practice, and this time in camp you are out on the field a little bit and coaching the run,” Coach Johnson said. “Tomorrow we have to let them play. So we will really find out who can step up, who can play the position, who understands what we’re asking them to do and who plays with great effort – all those things you are looking for. But all of those guys have been working extremely, extremely hard.”
Coach Johnson also touched on the freshman class and how they are improving each day.
“They are really, really trying,” Coach Johnson said. “You know they really are. They come and work every day. They practice every day. They are learning what toughness is. From that first standpoint, I have been really pleased with them.”
The Razorbacks will hold their first full-scale scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. All practices and scrimmages held outside through Aug. 18 will be open to the public, but practices moved inside Walker Pavilion will be closed due to space limitations. The team is scheduled to practice at the intramural fields through Aug. 16.
