AT KANSAS: At the 2011 Big 12 Championships she swam three season best times, in
the 100 backstroke (57.19), the 50 freestyle (23.74) and the 100
freestyle (52.16). She was named a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and the recipient of the David and Kelly Wysong Journalism scholarship.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner in swimming. She holds the school records in the 50-yard, 100-yard and 200-yard freestyles, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, and 200-yard freestyle and IM relays. She is a three-time all-state honoree and the 2008-09 High School Swimmer of the Year. She was named a USA Academic All-American and was a member of National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Personal: Shelby Lynn Cox was born on December 7, 1991 to Steve and Kim Cox in Wichita, Kan. Her father swam at Missouri State University and was an Olympic Trials Qualifier. Cox is majoring in journalism and hopes to become an anchor for ESPN. |
