FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas senior punter Dylan Breeding has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VI first team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Since Breeding was named first team academic all-district, he advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-American honorees will be selected later this month.

A native of Hoover, Ala., Breeding currently has a 3.80 GPA while pursuing a degree in marketing management in the Walton College of Business Honor’s Program. He is in his last 10 hours to graduate in December. Breeding, who was also named a semifinalist for the 2012 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards and the William V. Campbell Trophy, has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2010 and 2011 and has been selected to the Athletic Director’s List (GPA between 3.5-3.99) three times in his academic career.

Breeding, who is on the watch list for the Ray Guy Award, has punted 40 times during the 2012 season and has averaged 46.2 yards per punt. He ranks second in the SEC and sixth in the country in punting average. Breeding has 16 punts of 50 or more yards, including a career-long of 72 yards earlier in the season, and has played 14 punts inside the 20-yard line. For his career, Breeding ranks third in school history in career punts (206) and career punting yards (8,818). He ranks fifth in school history in career punting average, with an average of 42.8 yards.

Breeding and the rest of the Arkansas football team returns to action on Saturday at South Carolina. Kickoff inside Williams-Brice Stadium is set for 11 a.m., and the game will be nationally televised on CBS.
