FAYETTEVILLEKasey Heckelman, a senior middle block for the University of Arkansas volleyball team, has been voted onto the Capital One Academic All-District VI first team, as announced Thursday by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). As a first-team district selection, Heckelman is now a candidate for academic All-America honors.

Heckelman carries a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average as a psychology major at Arkansas. Heckelman was recognized for her work in the classroom with a spot on the 2011 Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. With her perfect GPA, she was also honored as an Academic Champion by the University of Arkansas Athletic Department.

She has at least three total blocks in five matches during the 2012 season, including a season-best eight total blocks in a five-set match at then-No. 22 Michigan. She tallied a career-high 10 kills against Oklahoma with a .450 hitting percentage. She has had eight matches this season with at least five kills, registering an attack efficiency of at least .308 in those instances. Heckelman tallied a season-high .545 hitting percentage in two matches this year.

The Bloomington, Ill., native has appeared in 16 matches this season with 1.39 kills per set and 0.70 blocks per set. She owns a .371 hitting percentage during her senior campaign. Through her two years as a Razorback, Heckelman has posted a .322 career hitting percentage, the fifth-best mark in program history.

The Razorbacks begin a three-match home stand Sunday afternoon against Kentucky. The SEC matchup is scheduled for a Noon (CT) start and will be televised live by Fox Sports and SportSouth. There will also be a video stream available on ESPN3.com for areas outside the SEC coverage footprint.
