FAYETTEVILLE - University of Arkansas head football coach John L. Smith met with the media on Monday to discuss the team's game against South Carolina last Saturday and to talk about this Saturday’s game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Coach Smith spoke about the team’s effort against South Carolina and the character they display on the field.
"We learned a lot and our guys came back and they hung in there showed a lot of pride after the game," Coach Smith said. "They showed character and will continue to show character and continue to do the right thing. They will go to the practice field this week and continue to get better. The thing that we have to rely on is that we will get better and they have done that all year long."
Coach Smith also commented on how the younger players have stepped up recently.
"I have to compliment a lot of our young guys," Coach Smith said. "We have a lot of young guys that are stepping up and we are demanding more and we are trying to ask every player to give a little bit more and a lot of young guys have done that."
Kickoff for the Mississippi State game is set for 11:21 a.m., and will be televised on the SEC Network.
