FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s golf team closed the fall season ranked 14th by the National Golf Coaches Association in the final poll before the spring season.
Arkansas, who competed in three fall events, opened the year receiving votes in the poll but three top five finishes vaulted the Razorbacks their 14th-place showing.
The Razorbacks opened the season at the Old Waverly Invitational where they played to a third-place finish. Junior Emma Lavy paced the team with a fifth-place showing with two-time All-American Emily Tubert tied for seventh for Arkansas.
The Razorbacks went into the Lady Tar Heel Invitational the following week ranked No. 30 by Golfstat.com and played to a tie for fifth place overall. Senior Victoria Vela led the team and tied for 19th overall.
Arkansas finished off the season at the Longhorn Invitational finishing one stroke out of the lead. Freshman Gabriela Lopez paced the team with a fifth place finish followed by Tubert who tied for 11th. Freshman Regina Plasencia tied for 15th as the Razorbacks finished the fall.
