AT ELKINS HS: Heymsfield was a seven-time Arkansas 3A state champion with three titles in cross country and at 1,600 meter each. He added a victory at 3,200 meters in the state meet during this senior season. Running toward three individual titles, Heymsfield helped pace Elkins High School cross country to four state titles. He ran his 5K personal best of 15:32 at the 2011 Chile Pepper Festival during the high school boy’s race.

PERSONAL: Born Oct. 20, 1993, he is the son of Ernest and Carol Heymsfield of Fayetteville, and is the younger of two children with older sister Grace, who is a member of the Arkansas women’s cross country and track and field team. While at Arkansas, Heymsfield will major in engineering.
