2013 || INDOOR: All-America First Team…finished fourth in the long jump at the NCAA Championships with a personal-best mark of 26-0…qualified for the national meet with a jump of 25-8.75 and second-place finish at the Armory Collegiate Invitational. OUTDOOR: Two-time All-America…First Team in the 4x100m, Second Team in the long jump…SEC All-Freshman Team…ran second leg of 4x100-meter relay that finished fifth at NCAA Championships…finished 14th in the long jump at the national meet…scored in two events at the SEC Championships with fourth-place results in long jump and with the 4x100m…top qualifier in the long jump at the NCAA West Preliminary with a personal-best measure of 26-0.25.

AT LIBERTY-EYLAU HS: Following a standout prep career at Liberty-Eylau High School, Lawson was a double winner at the USA Junior Championships with first-place performances in the long jump and triple jump. Representing the United State, he went on to finish third in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona. Lawson was a five-time Texas state champion. At the 2011 and 2012 UIL Texas 3A State Championships, he swept the long and triple jump event titles. In the process of sweeping the horizontal jumps at the state meet, Lawson broke the Class 3A state records in both events with marks of 25-8 in the long jump and 51-10.25 in the triple jump. Both jumps also represented the top prep marks in the United States. For his performance, Lawson was named the Texas 3A Most Outstanding Athlete for the second straight year. As a sophomore, he was also part of the Leopards’ state champion 4x400-meter relay team. In addition to his prowess on the track, Lawson was a letterwinner and team captain for the Liberty-Eylau basketball and football teams. He earned second-team all-state honors as a defensive back.
