2008 Outlook

Logan Forsythe's development from his freshman season (2006) to his sophomore season (2007) was dramatic ... a .189 hitter as a freshman turned into a .347 hitter as a sophomore ... always known for his slick-fielding glove at third base and strong arm, Forsythe enters the 2008 season as one of the top players in the Southeastern Conference ... a third-team pre-season All-American by PingBaseball.com ... selected to play for Team USA over the summer of 2007, Forsythe was a integral piece to the American's lineup that finished with a silver medal in the Pan Am Games and a bronze medal at the World Port Tournament ... he batted .309 for the summer, including a tournament-leading .625 (10 for 16) mark at the Pan Am Games ... also collected six doubles, a home run, 16 RBI and six stolen bases ... produced a .980 fielding percentage for Team USA while playing all over the field for the Americas, including left field, second base, third base and shortstop ... injured a foot late in the Team USA season but is expected to be 100 percent by the start of the season ... a versatile, athletic player who has proven to possesses five-solid tools ... 6.7 runner who has good instincts on the base paths, an outstanding eye and patience at the plate.

 

Sophomore (2007)

Forsythe's 2007 season was impressive considering he did not lock down the starting job at third base until the middle of February ... successfully produced one of the most impressive turnarounds on head coach Dave Van Horn's watch from a .189 hitter as a freshman to the Hogs' best hitter as a sophomore at .347 ... but it wasn't just the average that made him the most complete player on the Razorbacks' roster: he finished first in hits (78), doubles (16), stolen bases (18), triples (2) and on-base percentage (.431); second in runs scored (55), slugging percentage (.556), total bases (125) and sacrifice flies (5); third in home runs (9), RBI (55) and walks (31) ... at the same time he struck out just 30 times and was hit by six pitches ... Forsythe was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored on March 10 and then 1 for 3 on March 11 vs. Kansas ... was 2 for 4 with a career-high tying three runs scored vs. ORU on March 13 ... went 4 for 12 (.333) at Kentucky with a three-run home run on March 16 vs. the Wildcats ... then collected three hits and two RBI at Centenary on March 21 ... was red-hot against top-ranked Vanderbilt, going 6 for 11 (.545) with four RBI, a home run and two doubles ... went 3 for 4 on March 23 vs. the Commodores with two hits off David Price - the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft - and then connected for his fourth home run the following day ... was 3 for 6 with a home run and a double at Tennessee on April 1 and then cracked a three-run home run vs. Northern Colorado on April 3 ... produced a 5-for-13 weekend when Mississippi State came to town with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, including going 2 for 5 in the opening game of the series with a double and 2 for 3 with a walk in game two ... killed Florida pitching the following weekend with a .429 batting average (6 for 14), three doubles and eight RBI ... had career highs in hits (4) and RBI (6) in the series finale on April 15 vs. the Gators ... Forsythe went 0 for 9 in the first two games of the Georgia series, it was the first SEC games of the season that he did not get a hit, but the junior rebounded with a 2-for-4 performance on Sunday with a RBI and a run scored to help the Hogs clinch the series ... batted .429 at Auburn with three doubles and four RBI in three games ... opened with a 2-for-4 outing on April 27 and then followed that up by going 1 for 4 with a double on April 27 and 3 for 6 in the finale with a double and a RBI as the Razorbacks won another road SEC series behind his leadership ... Forsythe was 2 for 4 on May 6 vs. LSU and finished the weekend with three hits and three runs scored against the Tigers ... he hit in all three games of the Alabama series, going 4 for 11 with three RBI and three runs scored, including his seventh home run on May 13 vs. the Crimson Tide ... Forsythe was 5 for 10 in the Ole Miss series, including a 4-for-4 night at the plate on May 17 with a double, triple and a RBI ... swiped a career-high four bases on May 19, which tied the school record that had been done four time previously. SEC Tournament: Forsythe hit .333 over four games in Hoover ... was 3 for 3 on May 24 vs. No. 9 South Carolina with a home run and four RBI and followed that with a 1-for-3 game vs. the Gamecocks on May 26. NCAA Fayetteville Regional: Forsythe batted .267 at the Fayetteville Regional with two multiple-hit games and five RBI ... was 2 for 4 in the opener against fourth-seeded Albany with three RBI, a walk and his ninth home run of the season ... after an 0 for 3 game vs. Oklahoma State, bounced back with two hits vs. Creighton on June 3 with a RBI and his second triple of the season.

 

Freshman (2006)

Forsythe came out of redshirt after fellow freshman James Ewing went down with a broken foot after the Florida series in the middle of March ... started 24 games in his rookie campaign at either second or third base ... hit .189 with a double and three home runs and nine RBI ... turned in a breakout performance in the Alabama series with a game-winning RBI single in the 11th inning on May 5 in the series opener ... came back and went 2 for 4 with a career best four RBI and a triple on May 6 ... singled in his first two games as a Hog against Centenary on March 21-22 ... was 2 for 4 with a run scored vs. Georgia on March 25 ... connected on a 0-2 pitched against Wichita State for a solo home run that allowed Arkansas to take the game into extra innings and eventually get the win ... homered on March 31 in the opener of the Tennessee series, launching a solo shot to left in the bottom of the eighth inning ... went 1 for 3 with a solo home run in the loss to Missouri State on April 4 ... was 1 for 7 during the Vanderbilt series ... collected two hits in three at bats with a RBI and two runs scored against Kentucky on April 14 ... went 1 for 5 with a run scored on May 12 at Ole Miss and 1 for 4 on May 13 in Oxford. SEC Tournament: He did not see action in two games at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. NCAA Fayetteville Regional: Forsythe was 1 for 2 with a walk against Oklahoma State on June 4. 

 

Christian Brothers High School

Forsythe played third base for head coach Buster Kelso at Christian Brothers High School ... led his team to a state championship in 2005  ... was a three-year starter at third base. Senior (2005): Forsythe batted .527 with 58 RBI, four home runs and 21 stolen bases ... also collected 16 doubles and 14 triples.
