HOOVER, Ala. - Former Arkansas baseball All-American Kevin McReynolds was honored at the 2012 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament on Saturday as part of the inaugural group of SEC Baseball Legends.

McReynolds, along with Alabama's Dr. Jeffery Laubenthal, Florida's Brad Wilkerson and Georgia's Rev. Reggie Andrews were honored on field during the seventh inning of Saturday's first semifinal game.

McReynolds was a three-year letterwinner for the Razorbacks from 1979-81. He earned All-America and All-Southwest Conference honors in 1980 and 1981 and was also named Most Valuable Player of the 1980 Southwest Conference Tournament. During his freshman year of 1979, McReynolds helped the Razorbacks to the first College World Series appearance in program history. He earned College World Series all-tournament team recognition after helping Arkansas to a second-place finish.

McReynolds appeared in 151 games at Arkansas and posted a career batting average of .337 with 33 home runs and 121 RBI. He ranks tied for 10th in school history in career homers and third in career slugging percentage with a .642 mark.

Following his collegiate career, McReynolds became the first Arkansas player to be drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft as he was the sixth overall pick by the San Diego Padres. McReynolds went on to play 12 seasons in the Major Leagues, playing for the Padres, the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals during his professional career.
