SEC announces 2013 league tennis schedule

FAYETTEVILLE – The 2013 Southeastern Conference men’s tennis schedule was released Thursday by the league office. The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will play 12 conference matches-six home and six away-and begin its SEC schedule March 1 at Kentucky. The Razorbacks’ home SEC opener will be on March 8 against Alabama and Senior Day will take place on April 7 against Georgia.

Arkansas’ conference schedule features matches against all SEC institutions that support a men’s tennis program, including new SEC member, Texas A&M. The Hogs’ match against the Aggies will take place in College Station, Texas on March 17, 2013. 

After its conference opener against Kentucky, the team will then finish the weekend against Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn. Then, the home opener with Alabama will be followed by a match with Auburn on March 8 at the Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville. 

Mississippi State and Ole Miss will visit Arkansas on March 22 and March 24 before the Razorbacks hit the road again for South Carolina and Florida on March 29 and March 31. The home schedule will finish against Tennessee and Georgia on April 5 and April 7, respectively.

Arkansas will close the conference schedule in Baton Rouge, La., where it will face LSU on April 12. All of the Razorbacks conference opponents for 2013 along with Arkansas are currently ranked in the Top-75 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with eight in the Top-25. The non-conference schedule and start times for all matches will be determined at a later date. 

The 2012 edition of the Razorback men’s tennis program is currently in the middle of its conference season and will be traveling to Athens, Ga. to take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday. It will then return to Fayetteville to face the Tennessee Volunteers on Sunday.
