FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas junior pitcher DJ Baxendale was recognized for his performance on Sunday against Georgia as he was named Pitcher of the Week by SEBaseball.com.

A native of Jacksonville, Ark., Baxendale was fantastic on the mound against Georgia on Sunday, throwing eight shutout innings to lead the Razorbacks to a series victory over the Bulldogs. Baxendale allowed just six hits over his eight scoreless innings, striking out seven without issuing a walk. He set new season highs in both innings pitched and strikeouts. Of the 109 pitches Baxendale threw, 84 of those were strikes and he threw first-pitch strikes to 24 of the 30 batters he faced.

For the season, Baxendale has started nine games and has a 6-1 record with a 4.20 ERA. Baxendale has struck out 34 in 40.2 innings of work.
