COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Arkansas women’s golf team has a final practice round in preparation for the 2012 NCAA Regional Championship at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, Wednesday.

Arkansas was selected as the 12th-seed in the Central Region, one of three regional sites, with the top eight teams from each site moving on to the NCAA Championship in Nashville, Tenn., in late May.

Also released today was the final GolfWorld/National Golf Coaches Association Division I women’s poll.  The coaches poll picks the Razorbacks 28th with 21 votes.  It is the highest Arkansas has been all season after a slow start in the fall.  The strong spring results moved the Razorbacks up in all of the collegiate polls this year.

In addition to the team’s focus on this week’s regional competition, sophomore Emily Tubert earned a sponsor’s exemption to the 2012 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G.  The event is scheduled for June 25-July 1, at Pinnacle Country Club.  Tubert was also granted an exemption in last year’s event.

Arkansas tees off at 8 a.m. Eastern, 7 a.m. Central Thursday on the 10th hole to start play.  The Razorbacks are paired with Purdue and Florida State for the first two rounds of play.

The rest of the field includes Southern California, Auburn, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Ohio State, Oregon, North Carolina State, Virginia, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Texas State, South Florida, Notre Dame, Texas-San Antonio, East Carolina, Michigan, UNC-Wilmington, Harvard, Butler and Siena.
