FAYETTEVILLE – The 2011-2012 University of Arkansas women’s tennis recruiting class is rated as the 12th best class in America, according to TennisRecruiting.net, who annually rank the nation's top recruiting classes.

The class ranks as the third best among SEC schools with Vanderbilt (4th) and Florida (10th) as the only schools ahead of Arkansas. This is the highest rated class for head coach Michael Hegarty in his nine seasons at the helm.

"We feel very good about this class that will join the program in August,” Hegarty said. “Coach (Audrey) Bordeleau deserves special recognition for her outstanding efforts during this process and she and I are very excited to see these young players develop."

The class includes four freshmen, Ana-Lorena Belmar of Guadalajara, Mexico, Kristen Mee of Dallas, Texas, Nicky Pang of Nanjing, China, and Kimberley-Ann Surin of Montreal, Canada. The class would have been rated even higher, but sophomore transfer Sarah McLean of Miami, Florida was not included in the team ranking because transfers are not rated. McLean was a top-50 national recruit entering her freshman season at FIU where she played predominantly at No. 1 singles and doubles.

The Razorbacks are coming off their fifth straight NCAA tournament appearance and will begin their fall season Sept 21-23 at the Country Club of Little Rock Invitational.
