FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas football staff met with the media Thursday prior to its annual golf scramble at Paradise Valley Golf & Athletic Club.
Head coach John L. Smith, defensive coordinator Paul Haynes and offensive coordinator Paul Petrino addressed the media with a press conference to kick off the fesitivities.
Coach Smith addressed the previous two days when Arkansas was highlighted on ESPN platforms as he was on the Bristol campus Tuesday and then Knile Davis and Tyler Wilson made the rounds Wednesday.
"The more exposure we can get the better," Coach Smith said. "It's always better for the university anytime those kids out there around the country are seeing us on TV. It definitely helps, and we want that logo out as much as we can get it out to gain exposure."
Coach Haynes reacted to his feeling entering the first fall camp at Arkansas.
"I'm very excited," Coach Haynes said. "The thing I'm most excited about is our kids are excited. The spring was good as far as learning the terminology and they've had a great summer. They've stepped up the leadership, and it's real good."
Coach Petrino discussed how the offense might differ this season as he is the primary play caller in 2012.
"We have a big enough volume in our offense that it changes a little bit week to week," Coach Petrino said. "The offense is going to be the same offense. Whether a few more plays here or there will be called more or emphasized a little bit more by what I individually like or what the coaches in the room like, that could happen. We gameplan everything as a whole offensive staff."
The Razorbacks begin August camp Aug. 2 in prepration for the season opener Sept. 1 when they host Jacksonville State in Fayetteville at 6 p.m. The game will be a pay-per-view broadcast, with more details still to be announced.
