FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas baseball Cardinal-White series resumes this week with game four scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m., while game five will take place Thursday at 3 p.m. All games of the series are free and open to the public.
Games six and seven, both “if necessary” games, are scheduled for this weekend. If needed, game six will be played Saturday and game seven will be on Sunday. First pitch for both games is still to be announced.
The White team currently holds a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. After the Cardinal team won game one 5-4, the White team responded by winning game two, 5-0, and game three, 3-0.
Freshman right hander Trey Killian is slated to start game four for Cardinal, while sophomore right hander Chris Oliver
will start for White. Killian earned the win in game one of the series after throwing 5.1 innings and giving up two runs, just one earned, on four hits with six strikeouts.
In game five on Thursday, senior lefty Tyler Wright
will start for Cardinal, while redshirt senior left hander Trent Daniel
will start for White. Daniel and Wright both started game two and pitched well. Daniel picked up the win with 5.2 shutout innings and four strikeouts. Wright also went 5.2 innings and allowed a run on four hits with six strikeouts.
Offensively, Brian Anderson
is leading the White team at the plate with a .500 (4-for-8) batting average with a RBI and two runs scored. Jake Wise
is hitting .400 (4-for-10) with a RBI, while Brett McAfee is batting .385 (5-for-13) with a homer and a RBI. Isaac Hellbusch has also contributed a home run, while driving in a team-high four runs.
The Cardinal team has been led at the plate by Joe Serrano
, who is batting .444 (4-for-9). Eric Fisher
has driven in a team-high four runs and is hitting .417 (5-for-12). Dominic Ficociello
is also batting .417 in the series.
