FAYETTEVILLE – In recognition of her commitment to the Northwest Arkansas community, junior outside hitter Hayley Koop has been named to the 2012 Southeastern Conference Volleyball Community Service Team as announced Tuesday by the league office. The SEC sponsors a community service team for all league-sponsored sports. This is the ninth such team for the conference’s volleyball programs.

Koop has organized the Razorbacks’ community service efforts this season, planning service trips every Monday to local elementary schools, animal shelter, veteran’s hospital and Fayetteville High School. She helped the team total 100 community service hours in October. Arkansas volleyball also paired with nation organization Feed My Starving Children to help pack meals for those in need.

During the spring, Koop and the Razorbacks hosted a Special Olympics volleyball clinic for the second straight year and later participated in the organization’s Area 3 Games. In the classroom, the Spring, Texas, native carries a 3.36 cumulative grade-point average as an art major at Arkansas.

Arkansas received an at-large selection into the 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship and will begin its postseason Friday with a first-round matchup with Wichita State. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. (CT) at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan. The Razorbacks finished the regular season with a 22-9 overall record and a 13-7 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
