Arkansas went 1-1 on the week losing to Alabama on the road, 59-56, before defeating Tennessee at Bud Walton Arena, 73-60 ... during halftime of the Tennessee game a painting depicting Nolan Richardson and Arkansas’ 1994 national championship was unveiled and put to auction as a part of the 75th anniversary of March Madness ... the Razorbacks were led by BJ young this week who averaged 19.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists including a 25-point effort against Tennessee ... Young led the Razorbacks in scoring in each game this week and shot 56 percent from the field, he ranks No. 3 in the SEC in scoring and assists (all games) and his assist total would be the best by a Razorback since the 2009-10 season if the year ended now ... Against the Volunteers, Arkansas dominated the game in points off turnovers (27-5), fast break points (14-0) and bench scoring (46-9), the bench production was the fourth highest total of the season by the Razorbacks ... junior Marshawn Powell moved into 26th on Arkansas’ all-time scoring list with a12-point game against Tennessee and now has 1,141 career points ... sophomore Hunter Mickelson posted a career high four steals against Tennessee and for the week averaged 8.0 points, 3.0 rebounds1.5 blocks and 2.5 steals ... freshman Michael Qualls earned his first career start against Tennessee and had a banner game with 11 rebounds, seven points, one assist, two steals and no turnovers; his rebounding total was a career high and the first time he eclipsed the 10 rebound mark ... the Razorbacks continue to lead the SEC in turnover margin, assists and assist-turnover ratio for all games played and lead the league in turnover margin for SEC only statistics ... with the Razorbacks’ win against Tennessee, Arkansas improved to 29-4 (.879) in Fayetteville with Mike Anderson as head coach, the best percentage by an Arkansas head coach since Eddie Sutton in the early 80s ... for the season Arkansas has forced teams into 387 turnovers (18.4 per game) and turned those into 478 points (22.8 per game) ... Arkansas returns to the court on Tuesday, Feb. 5, when it plays No. 4/4 Florida at Bud Walton Arena before heading back out on the road to play the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday, Feb. 9.
