FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 12 University of Arkansas men’s golf team opens its 2012-13 spring schedule on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.

The Razorbacks are one of three ranked teams in the 14-team field, sitting behind No. 3 and host Florida. The field also includes No. 22 Florida State, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lamar, Liberty, Memphis, North Florida, South Alabama, UAB and UCF.

Played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the University of Florida campus, The Gator Invitational is in its 36th season.  The Razorbacks played in the event a year ago and finished second at 24-over par on a weekend that produced poor weather conditions and inflated scores.  Sebastian Cappelen was Arkansas’ top finisher a year ago, tying for ninth at five-over par individually.

The Razorback lineup for the Gator Invitational includes senior Austin Cook, juniors Cappelen and Joe Doramus, sophomore Thomas Sorensen and freshman Taylor Moore.  Each saw action in multiple tournaments and combined have five top 10 and nine top 20 finishes this year.

Over the winter break, several Razorbacks continued to play, led by Cappelen who placed second at the Western Refining before winning the Patriot All-America in December.  Cappelen was joined by senior Cook and Moore at the Patriot who also fared well.

The 2013 competition begins Arkansas’ spring schedule which includes five regular season events before the SEC Championship, an NCAA Regional Championship at Blessings Golf Club and the NCAA Championship.  The Razorback lineup includes two events in February, March and April before the regional competition schedule for May 16-17.
