FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s golf team is coming off a solid fall and got a fast start to the spring last week moving up in the national polls this week.

Arkansas moves from No. 12 to No. 8 in this week’s Golfstat.com rankings and the Razorbacks are No. 7 in the Golfweek.com national poll.

Arkansas opened the fall at No. 23 and fell to No. 30 by the second tournament.  The Razorbacks rebounded with a third place showing at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational wrapping up the fall at No. 12 in the Golfstat.com poll.

The Razorbacks opened the spring with a runner-up finish in Puerto Rico posting their fourth consecutive top five tournament finish this year.  Junior Emily Tubert won the event shooting 213 for the three rounds.

Golfstat.com moved Arkansas to No. 8 overall behind SEC members No. 3 Florida and No. 5 Alabama.  Southern California tops the Golfstat.com list.

Golfweek.com also elevated the Razorbacks to the No. 7 again behind No. 2 Alabama and No. 5 Florida.  Southern California also leads this list.

Golfweek.com also ranks players and Tubert leads Arkansas in the No. 34 spot in the nation this week.  Freshman Gaby Lopez checks in at No. 41 followed by No. 59 senior Victoria Vela and No. 70 Emma Lavy.

Tubert ranks tied for eighth in the SEC this week after earning SEC Women’s Golf of the Week for her win.  Lopez is also tied for eighth with Tuber.  Lavy is No. 17 followed Regina Plasencia at No.31.

The Razorbacks return to action this weekend traveling to the Westbrook Invitational for 36 holes Sunday and 18 Monday.
