FAYETTEVILLE – Former Razorback volleyball standout Yarleen Santiago was honored Sunday in a pre-match ceremony at the All-Star Game of the Puerto Rico Superior League. A star in the league for many years, Santiago was recognized for her long-standing dedication to the sport of beach and indoor volleyball in her home country. Santiago played for Arkansas during the 1997-99 seasons.

Santiago totaled 1,342 kills in three years at Arkansas, the seventh-highest figure in program history. She was a three-time All-Southeastern Conference selection, twice being named to the league’s first team. During her collegiate career, the Razorbacks were 89-19 overall with a 41-4 mark in conference play, and in 1997, Arkansas won the SEC Tournament title. Santiago also helped Arkansas to three NCAA Tournament Appearances.

Recent Razorback volleyball alums Roslandy Acosta and Jasmine Norton are currently playing in the Puerto Rican league. Acosta plays for the Valencianas de Juncos club while Norton is a member of Leonas de Ponce. The two former Arkansas teammates met last week for the second time as professionals with Acosta’s Juncos team coming up with a 3-2 win. In the match, Acosta had double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs to go along with three blocks while Norton totaled 12 kills and 14 digs.
