MURRELLS INLET, S.C. – The No. 17 University of Arkansas men’s golf team returns to the links on Monday morning when it opens play at the General Hackler Championship at TPC of Myrtle Beach at Murrells Inlet, S.C.  The Razorbacks are one of two top 25 teams at the event and will play 36 holes on Monday with the final 18 scheduled for Tuesday, March 12.

Arkansas is participating in its third event of the spring schedule when it tees off on Monday and this is the Razorbacks’ second year of participation at the event.  Last spring, Arkansas placed third in a 15-team field with a team score of 26-over par.

The 2013 Razorbacks hope to improve upon last season’s result as three Razorbacks return to the course for a second time.  Senior Austin Cook, junior Sebastian Cappelen and sophomore Thomas Sorensen all played in the event a year ago and will tutor junior William Meason and freshmen Taylor Moore and Nicolas Echavarria on the par 72, 6,950-yard course.

Competing against the Razorbacks at the event are the host Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern, East Tennessee State, Florida Gulf Coast, Gardner-Webb, No. 23 Kent State, Lamar, Middle Tennessee State, No. 29 Tennessee and Texas-El Paso.  The Razorbacks are one of five teams returning the event after competing in it last season.

The Razorbacks get things started on Monday at 8:30 a.m. eastern from the first tee with players from Lamar and Kent State.  Players will play a continuous 36 holes on Monday.
