FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Kikko Haydar of the University of Arkansas basketball team was named to the Southeastern Conference’s Community Service team it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league office in Birmingham, Ala.

Haydar has flourished on the court for head coach Mike Anderson this year and drawn praise from the Razorback’s head coach for playing the game the right way with toughness and determination.  After spending his first two years on the bench as a walk on, he had a breakout performance at No. 3/3 Michigan when he sank a career high four three-point baskets and since then has been a regular in Anderson’s player rotation.

Haydar’s community service efforts have included volunteering at Youth Bridge, an organization that provides care to troubled teens and their families, visits to the Arkansas Children’s hospital, participation in the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club backpack/school supplies giveaway, assisting with the Special Olympics and most recently participating in Read Across America along with other endeavours.

The Razorbacks open play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Thursday evening, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. against the Vanderbilt Commodores at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
