FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 16 University of Arkansas gymnastics team travels to Corvallis, Ore. to compete in the Corvallis NCAA Regional on Saturday, April 6, as the third-seeded team. The other teams in Arkansas’ regional will be the top-seed Georgia Bulldogs, two-seed Oregon State, four-seed Boise State, five-seed Arizona State and sixth-seed Cal. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CST, in Gill Coliseum.
In the regional, Georgia is the highest ranked team at No. 4 in the nation. Oregon State is No. 10, Arkansas is No. 16 and Boise State is No. 21.
In the event rankings, Arkansas is tied at No. 9 on the floor, tied for No. 14 on the bars, No. 16 on the vault and No. 22 on the beam. The Razorbacks have the highest ranked floor rotation in the regional.
Georgia is No. 8 on the vault, No. 3 on the bars, No. 4 on the beam and tied at No. 10 on the floor. Oregon State is No. 10 on the vault, No. 5 on the bars, No. 10 on the beam and No. 19 on the floor. Boise State is No. 14 on the vault, tied at No. 14 with Arkansas on the bars, and tied at No. 17 on the floor. Arizona State is No. 25 on the beam.
Individually, junior Katherine Grable is tied at No. 14 in the all-around competition and the second highest ranked gymnast in the regional behind Oregon State’s Makayla Stambaugh at No. 13. Grable is also tied at No. 24 on the vault ant tied at No. 13 on the floor with Stambaugh.
Georgia and Oregon State also feature individually ranked gymnasts in the meet. Georgia features two gymnasts ranked in the vault with Brandie jay at No. 15 and Lindsey Cheek at No. 17. On the bars, Georgia adds ranked gymnasts in Chelsea Davis at No. 2 and Brittany Rogers at No. 9 and on the beam Georgia adds Shayla Worley at No. 2, Kaylan Earls at No. 11 and Cheek at No. 16. In addition to Stambaugh in the all-around and floor rankings for Oregon State, she is also ranked No. 5 on the bars. Oregon State also features Kelsi Blalock at No. 6 on the vault and Melanie Jones at No. 20 on the floor.
