FAYETTEVILLE – Stephanie Brown was the top collegiate runner in the invitational section of the 1,500 meters at the 55th Mt. SAC Relays on Friday in Walnut, Calif. She finished fifth overall with a personal-best time of 4:14.60, more than two seconds ahead of her previous best. Based on times entering the weekend, Brown’s time is the best in the SEC this season and the No. 3 mark in the NCAA. Friday’s race marked her first outdoor 1,500 meters since the 2011 season, a second-place finish at the 2011 Mt. SAC Relays.

Arkansas closed out its competition at the Mt. SAC Relays with entries in various sections of the 5,000 meters. Diane Robison was the Razorbacks’ top runner in the invitational section, posting an outdoor PR of 16:02.47. She held a previousbest of 16:50.16 from last year’s Drake Relays. Robison finished in 24th place overall while teammate Grace Heymsfield had a time of 16:19.32 in the first 5,000-meter race of her career. The Elkins, Ark., native finished in 28th place.

The Razorbacks’ third personal best of the day came from Kaitlin Flattmann in the ‘A’ section of the 5,000 meters. She turned in a time of 16:23.33, more than seven seconds faster than her previous best, and finished in eighth place. In the Olympic Development section of the 5,000 meters, Arkansas got another eighth-place effort with a new lifetime best of 16:04.78 from Semehar Tesfaye.

Martine Borge finished in seventh place at 800 meters. Competing in the open division, the Arkansas senior crossed the finish line in 2:07.45 for the fourth-fastest time of her career. Borge has a season-best time of 2:06.21 from the John McDonnell Invitational last weekend in Fayetteville. In the first race of the day for the Razorbacks, senior sprinter Gwendolyn Flowers ran to a runner-up finish in the 400-meter with a time of 58.92, the second-fastest time of her career.

In the last race of the night, Razorback freshman Valerie Reina took more than a minute off her previous best with time of 16:50.85 in the 'B' section of the 5,000 meters. She finished in 18th place overall in the race.
