FAYETTEVILLEHope McLemore and Devon Wallace were named to the Capital One Academic All-District team on Friday.

Both McLemore and Wallace have a chance to be named an Academic All-American when voting begins on May 7. Both players for the No. 22 Razorback softball team will be in action tonight against Auburn. Game one of the series is slated for 6 p.m. at Bogle Park.

Senior Hope McLemore is expected to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in education in community health promotion in May, 2013.  Named the 2012-13 Razorback Foundation Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, McLemore is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, was named to the Chancellor’s Honor Roll and earned distinction as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete. In addition, McLemore is a team captain and a four-year letterwinner as a pitcher. She ranks in the Top 10 all-time in school history in strikeouts, wins, games started, shutouts, strikeouts, complete games, batters faced and innings pitched. McLemore is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta National Health Pre-professional Honor Society and a member of the Arkansas Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, upon which she currently serves as vice president. She is the co-founder and president of Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots Arkansas Chapter and interned at the Pat Walker Health Center. She is heavily involved in a number of various community initiatives, including Book Hogs, Sweat Hawgs, the Seven Hills Homeless Shelter and Residential Community, the Samaritan Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity and the Full Circle Food Pantry.

Joining McLemore on the District VI team is her teammate Devon Wallace. The Double Oak, Texas native carries a 3.85 GPA and is a nursing major at the University of Arkansas. She has had an incredible season on the field as well as off. The sophomore broke the UA career walks record (103) earlier this year and is on pace to shatter Arkansas’ single season records in batting average (.391), slugging percentage (.800), on base percentage (.628) and walks (65). She is two walks away from breaking the SEC single-season record of 66. Wallace is a candidate for the USA Softball Player of the Year award and made the Top 25 list for the award earlier this month.
