ROGERS, Ark. – University of Arkansas senior-to-be Emma Lavy and incoming freshman Summar Roachell will represent the Razorbacks taking part in the Monday qualifier for the Walmart NW Arkansas LPGA Championship at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark.
The duo, along with sophomore-to-be Gabriela Lopez, who received a sponsor’s exemption to play in the tournament on Friday, continue in a long-line of Razorbacks who have taken part in the prestigious event.
“I am so excited for Emma, Gaby, and Summar,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said. “The opportunity to play in the NW Arkansas LPGA Championship is such an amazing experience for all three young ladies. They will be able to test their games against the best in the world. These competitive experiences are so valuable for our team because these student-athletes want to play at the next level and it provides a great measuring stick for them to see where their games stand.”
Lavy and Roachell tee off around 1 p.m. on Monday while Lopez and former Razorback and current LPGA star Stacy Lewis’ Friday tee times have not been set.
Lavy, a Fayetteville, Ark., native, is playing in her third Monday qualifier after taking part in 2011 and 2012. Lopez is the seventh exemption for Arkansas in the seven-year history of the tournament. Lewis played on the exemption twice in 2007 and 2008. Lucy Nunn received the exemption in 2009 followed by Kelli Shean in 2010 and Emily Tubert in 2011 and 2012.
“Having an LPGA event in our backyard is a unique experience and is great exposure for our community, golf program, and University,” Estes-Taylor said.”
