Nine earn USTFCCCA academic honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Nine University of Arkansas men’s track and field student-athletes have been named all-academic selections by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) it was announced on Wednesday.

Among the Razorback contingent on the list which includes 448 individuals from 149 institutions are national indoor heptathlon champion Kevin Lazas (3.46, finance) and 2013 Wooden Citizen Cup winner Nathanael Franks (3.96, chemistry and physics).  Other Arkansas student-athletes on the impressive list include Cameron Efurd (3.25, kinesiology), Brede Ellingsen (3.39, supply chain management), Eric Janise (3.66, business economics), Noah Kittelson (3.35, biology), Anton Kokorin (3.83, supply chain management), Andrew Pisechko (4.00, accounting) and Tomas Squella (3.29, geology).

To qualify for the individual award, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and met either of the following academic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
