– The University of Arkansas volleyball team reported to campus Sunday to mark the start of its 2013 season. The Razorbacks will take to the floor Monday morning for its first practice of the season. The season begins Aug. 30-31 with the Arkansas Invitational at Barnhill Arena.
After one week of practice, the Razorbacks will host their annual Red-White scrimmage Aug. 18 at Barnhill Arena. The preseason fan event will begin at 4 p.m. (CT), following Football Fan Day. The scrimmage is free and open to the public, and following the match, season-ticket holders are invited to “Pizza with Pulliza” to interact with head coach Robert Pulliza
and members of the team.
Last week in the SEC preseason coaches poll, the Razorbacks were picked to finish in third place in the league’s Western Division. Arkansas returns nine letterwinners from last year’s team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. That group includes the six-member senior class of Emily Helm
, Hayley Koop
, Avery Lewis
, Clarissa Pavey
, Raymariely Santos
and Ashley Vazquez
Arkansas has 16 home matches on their 2013 schedule and will play nine teams—Florida, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Tulsa—that advanced to last year’s NCAA Tournament. Four of those NCAA match-ups will be contested on the Razorbacks’ home court at Barnhill Arena. The 2013 season begins Aug. 30-31 with the Arkansas Invitational.
