FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –
With two tournaments already in the books, the University of Arkansas men’s golf team earned the No. 12 spot in the most recent Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll released on Wednesday.
Both of the Razorbacks’ tournaments have been the state of Illinois, placing fourth at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational hosted by Illinois and tying for seventh at the Windon Memorial Classic hosted by Northwestern. Over the two tournaments, Arkansas has finished in front of four teams that appeared in Golf World’s Preseason Top 25.
The Arkansas lineup has produced a top five individual each event, as sophomore Taylor Moore tied for fourth at the Olympia Fields Invite, while senior Sebastian Cappelen carded his 12th career top five finish at the Windon Memorial Classic.
The SEC occupied six of the top 25 spots in the poll, led by defending National Champion No. 1 Alabama, who received 16 of the 21 first-place votes. The Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll combines the resources of Golf World Magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
The Razorbacks will return to the course in just under two weeks when they travel to the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate hosted by Alabama at Old Overton Club on Oct. 7-8.
