FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas women's tennis team prepares to host its Razorback Classic tournament this weekend, welcoming select student-athletes from Auburn, Memphis, Tulsa and Northwestern State to the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center.

"It's great for us to be able to host the Razorback Classic again here at the Billingsley Tennis Center," head coach Michael Hegarty said. "This facility is perfect to host major events like this and we are expecting some high quality play from the five schools in attendance."

The event includes four separate brackets of single-elimination tournament play, with three brackets designated for singles play and one bracket for doubles play. The Wimbledon Flight, U.S. Open Flight and French Open Flight contain singles play, while the Australian Open Flight contains doubles play.

Competing for Arkansas is Shannon Hudson, Flavia AraujoBrittany Huxley and Kristen Mee.

"Our players have prepared extremely well for the tournament," Coach Hegarty said. "Judging from our practices, we should have some strong results."

Hudson makes her return to the court for Arkansas after going 3-0 and claiming a flight title at the William & Mary Tribe Invitational in the opening weekend of the fall season. The freshman from Virginia Beach, Va., also looks to improve her 1-2 record in doubles play.

Looking to build on recent momentum, Araujo competes after finishing with two straight wins last weekend at the Colorado Invitational. The sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, is 2-4 overall in singles play this fall season.

It will be the second tournament of the season for Huxley, who opened her fall season going 1-2 in singles play at the Little Rock Classic. The sophomore from Grafton, Australia, also competed in doubles play with teammate Yang Pang, going 2-1.

Mee takes part in her first competition of the fall season this weekend.

The Razorback Classic gets underway Friday with doubles play beginning at 10 a.m. and singles play starting at 11 a.m. The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday under the same format, with Saturday's competition beginning with doubles play at 9 a.m.
