– After a weekend away from competition, the University of Arkansas softball team resumes its fall schedule Sunday afternoon against Oklahoma State. The two teams will play a doubleheader at Bogle Park with game one set for a 1 p.m. (CT) start. Sunday’s twin bill will mark the third of four fall dates for the Razorbacks. Admission is free and the games are open to the public.
Arkansas began its falls slate Oct. 2 with a pair of wins over Butler CC and Evangel by a combined score of 22-0 at Bogle Park. Four days later, the Razorbacks traveled to Norman, Okla., where they dropped both games of a doubleheader to defending national champion Oklahoma. Following Sunday’s games against Oklahoma State, the team will play Louisiana Tech in Texarkana, Ark., on Oct. 26.
Through the first four games of the fall season, junior Devon Wallace
leads the team with five hits, five runs and a .455 batting average while redshirt junior Kasey Fagan
has a team-high seven RBI and two doubles. Six pitchers have made an appearance in the circle for Arkansas with Fagan and sophomore Kelly Young
posting wins. Freshman Sydney Wright has held opposing hitters to a .222 batting average in three appearances this fall.
The Razorbacks return 16 players from the 2012-13 team that posted a 36-20 record and advanced to an NCAA Regional final for the second-straight season. That group includes seniors Jayme Gee
, Amanda Geile
, Ashley Martindale
, Clarisa Navarro
, Chloe Oprzedek
and Jennifer Rambo
. Arkansas also returns Wallace, the defending NCAA on-base percentage champion, and All-SEC Second Team performer Kimmy Beasley
Along with Beasley, Fagan and Wallace, Arkansas also welcomes back juniors Sierra Bronkey
and Megan Pearson
and sophomores Young, Stephanie Canfield
, Claire Clark
, Kyndra Meeker
