TRINITY, Texas – University of Arkansas sophomore Gabriela Lopez
was selected to represent Mexico at The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship for the second time in her playing career.
The Spirit International was established in 2001 and is played at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Texas. The event features 20 countries with four player teams. This is Lopez’s second appearance for Team Mexico. She joined Razorback teammate Emily Tubert
who was on the USA team in 2011.
This is a biennial event alternating years with the World Amateur Team Championships. All 80 participants enjoy an Olympic like experience including Opening Ceremonies, International Village accommodations, festive dinner parties, Closing Ceremonies and a 72 hole golf event where the world’s best amateur golfers compete for gold medals.
Players take part in a 72 hole, best ball competition with championships awarded for the team, men’s and women’s and individual men’s and women’s titles.
