FAYETTEVILLE - On the heels of an NCAA Tournament selection for the Razorbacks, junior Meredith Hays has been named to the 2013 All-Southeastern Conference Team as announced Monday by the league office. Hays becomes the 32nd All-SEC performer in program history and the seventh for head coach Robert Pulliza.

In her first season at Arkansas, Hays finished the regular season fourth in the SEC and 43rd in the NCAA with 4.02 kills per set. She is currently third among conference players and 38th in the NCAA with 4.56 points per game. In a show of her all-around play, Hays is also tied for 13th in the SEC with nine double-double performances, seven of which came during the Razorbacks' conference schedule.

The Hereford, Texas, native registered double-digit kill totals in 26 of 29 matches in the regular season including each SEC match. Hays had 14 matches with at least 15 kills and five with at least 20 including a season-high 22 kills on three occasions. She is on track to be the first Razorback to average more than 4.00 kills per set since former All-American Jasmine Norton did so in 2009.

In addition to her offensive efforts, Hays was an important part of the Razorbacks' defense. She had seven matches with 13 or more digs including a season-high 15 digs on two occasions. Hays also tallied three or more total blocks in eight matches during the year. From the service line, she was third on the team with 25 aces and had at least one ace in each of the Razorbacks' final nine matches of the regular season.

Hays will have the chance to add to her impressive numbers with Arkansas' selection to the NCAA Tournament. The Razorbacks will open their postseason Friday with a first-round match against Creighton in Lawrence, Kan. First serve is set for 4 p.m. (CT) at Allen Fieldhouse. The NCAA bid marks back-to-back selections for Arkansas and is the 11th overall in program history.
